This petite trailing succulent with its intricate patterned leaves, reminiscent of a turtles shell and is native to the Brazilian rainforests. It adapts well to average household conditions but avoid moving it around too much.
Care Tips:
Thrives in bright indirect light, some morning sun is ok but avoid afternoon sun. Too much sun can damage the leaves. Make sure the light can reach the soils surface so it can produce new growth. Avoid a high shelf.
As a semi-succulent they don’t like too much water. Water once every two to three weeks. Watering from below works best. To do this, place the pot in a vessel and fill with water (ideally rainwater, or let tap sit overnight) until it’s 25% up the side of the pot. Leave it for ten minutes and then remove the pot and allow to drain.
Feed every 2-3 weeks in spring. Dilute feed to half strength.
Flowers
After a few years once the plant reaches maturity it may produce small creamy white flowers on spikes along the vine during early summer.
Repot every three years in the spring, using a cactus & succulent potting mix and the next size up pot. Only repot if it's really necessary as can be a bit temperamental and are far better potbound for several years due to increased risk of root rot, also restricted root growth will also increase the chance of blooms.
Current length approximately 10cms. Can trail to about 30cms over time but are slow growing. Prune stems if they get straggly as this will encourage new bushy growth.
